Alabama

A state within the American South.  A generation past, my inhabitants warred for the ‘right’ to hold people in legal bondage.  Deprived of this, they settled for laws that codified race as law and created worlds apart between those of African descent and whites via a series of statutes called ‘Jim Crow Laws.’   Here, racial identity is a matter of law and sexual identity is a matter of faith.
